Question: What’s better than your spring Creatively box?

Answer: Your spring Creatively box paired with cocktails!

It’s officially spring, and this is one of our favorite seasons to find a quiet spot outside and paint our Creatively hearts out with friends, family, a significant other, or even by ourselves.

It’s no secret the Creatively crew loves a little vino, but every now and then we like to branch out. We’ve mixed up some refreshing cocktails to go with a few of our special spring paintings. Try one (or a few) of the pairings, and let us know what you think!

#1. “Cherry & Lime Smash” + Cherry & Lime Bourbon Smash

When we released Cherry and Lime Smash, this bold painting had us aching for spring days–and now they are upon us. We can finally live life with bright blossoms, green grass, and flawless blue skies.

We think this pairing is a low key, relaxing option for learning (or practicing) some painting skills–preferably outside in that amazing spring sunshine. And while the cocktail below may look less than bold, we can assure you it measures up.

Cherry & Lime Smash

What You Need:
Ice
Vessel to stir your cocktail
Bar spoon (or any spoon, really)
Rocks glass (or whatever you fancy; it’s your party)
Ingredients:
2 ounces bourbon
8 ounces cherry soda
A springy splash of lime juice
Optional: Fresh cherries for garnish

PLOT TWIST!

Heads up: This isn’t a shaken drink, it’s a stirred drink.

  1. Add some ice to your vessel (or don’t–it works either way).
  2. Pour in all of the ingredients. (That spring splash of lime juice? It’s just our fancy way of saying squeeze a lime in there with everything else.)
  3. Stir it up.
  4. Pour over ice in a rocks glass.

Pro Tip: Chill your glass in the fridge for a bit so it’s nice and cold when your drink is ready.

Another tip: For the cherry soda, we muddled our cherries and added them (and the resulting juice) to Sprite. You could use soda water instead of Sprite. Or use 7-Up. Or use whatever lemon-lime soda is cheap or is your favorite. Or use actual cherry soda. We are not going to tell you how to live your life because we love you. Cheers!

#2. “A Tale of Two Koi” + Blue Lagoon

A little zen is just what Persophone (the goddess of spring) ordered–and that’s exactly what we’re stirring up for you with A Tale of Two Koi and its partner cocktail.

If you ask us, this combo is perfect for date night when you want to try something other than the standard dinner-and-a-movie option. A paintbrush in one hand and a Blue Lagoon in the other? Please and thank you.

Blue Lagoon

What You Need:
Ice
A cocktail shaker
Mason jar, coupe glass, or Collins glass (I mean, whatever you have handy works.
No judgment, only love.)
Ingredients:
1 ounce of vodka
1 ounce of blue curacao
4 ounces of lemonade
  1. Ice in shaker.
  2. Ingredients in shaker.
  3. Shake until cold.
  4. Strain into your vessel of choice (filled with ice, of course).

This combo is sure to get your creative juices flowing. And it’s oh-so-relaxing! Unless you confuse the drink with the movie–then things can get a little racy! You do you. After all, it is date night!

#3. “Sound of Music” + Rose Lemon Spritzer

Sound of Music is a fan favorite, and it’s easy to see why. The rolling hills and perfect blue sky are the epitome of a perfect spring day.

We’d like to suggest this painting and rose lemon spritzer as the perfect spring brunch with your besties. Paint a little, sip a little. We think you’ll find this gem of a spritzer is everything you dreamed spring could be.

Rose Lemon Spritzer

What You Need:
Ice
A cocktail shaker
Coupe glass, rocks glass, or something really beautiful and vintage
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of rosewater (optional)
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1.5-2 ounces of vodka
1-2 tablespoon honey or agave
A few drops of blood orange or pomegranate juice for color (optional)
3/4 cup sparkling water
  1. Put some ice in your shaker.
  2. Pour everything except the sparkling water into the shaker.
  3. Shake it like the hills are alive with music.
  4. Strain into your glass.
  5. Top with sparkling water.

Personal note: We prefer this one without the sparkling water, but that’s just because some of us don’t love sparkling water. Try it both ways, amiright?

Pro Tip: Want to be EXTRA for brunch? Garnish with a fresh mini rose. Your friends are going to be so impressed.

#4. “Dancing in the Moonlight” + Blue Moon

Take in your own moonlight moment and appreciate all that nature provides in spring with our Dancing in the Moonlight painting. Even the evenings are precious. When we look at this painting, we can feel the cool breeze from the water and the new chirrups in nature.

We think this pairing is perfect for a girls’ night out or date night in, whichever suits you. Or go at it alone and dance by the light of the moon. If you need a little courage, here’s the recipe for the Blue Moon cocktail.

And remember, creative alone time is just as important as creative time with friends!

Blue Moon (not to be confused with the Blue Lagoon)

What You Need:
Ice
A cocktail shaker
Coupe glass, rocks glass, whatever you have on hand. Really.
Even your favorite coffee mug is fine. It’s all about making yourself happy.
Ingredients:
2 ounces gin
1.5 ounces Creme de Violette
½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  1. You put your ice in the shaker.
  2. You pour in all the stuff.
  3. You shake until chilled.
  4. You strain into whatever glass or cup your heart desires.
  5. Feel free to garnish with a lemon twist.

We’ve found it’s incredibly relaxing to paint, listen to some tunes, and sip a slip of the moon. What do you think?

#5. “When in Rome” + Aperol Spritz

Are you ready for your next adventure? When In Rome will give you some serious wanderlust. Pasta anyone?

We’re hoping we can all travel safely soon. In the meantime, you and your friends or family can plan your future getaway while bringing a little piece of the world to your home. Paint a little, plan a little, sip a little.

Aperol Spritz

What You Need:
Ice
Wine glass or rocks glass
Ingredients:
Prosecco
Aperol
Soda water
Optional: Orange peel for garnish
  1. Put a little ice in your glass (or just use a chilled glass).
  2. Fill half of your glass with Prosecco.
  3. Pour Aperol just below the top of your glass (leave a little room).
  4. Top with a splash of soda water.
  5. Garnish with your orange peel.

Another option is to just mix white wine and soda water. If it’s good enough for Italians, it’s perfect for us.

We hope each of the paintings (and their offered pairings) will keep you busy this spring as you enjoy the weather, relax outside, and learn a few new painting skills with your special people.
